I’ve got a bunch of projects lined up for this Spring and Summer.  While my priorities lie in finishing the renovations in my basement, I’m already trying to visualize the deck I hope to build this year.  If all goes well, I’ll hopefully be able to get around to starting this before June.

For my own personal reference, here is concept 1:

This will evolve as I have time to take more accurate measurements but for now, it’s a start.  I still haven’t even decided what materials to use.  Ipê seems to be a popular choice but some favor composites.  It’s difficult to determine what the more eco-friendly option is since even the composite manufacturers try to market themselves as "Green."  I suppose I still have time to decide.

It usually takes me a long time to make a decision on purchasing things for our home.  I’ve been looking at a lot of different types of rugs and was pretty close, a couple of times, on pulling the trigger on a Popcows cowhide rug.  I ended up stumbling across Picked by Hand.  Their prices seemed very reasonable and, while their selection was small, I found something I liked. 

I ended up ordering a 6’x8’ Rayas Rug to go in between our sofa and armchairs.  So far I’ve managed to keep everything in the house very muted in color since I had planned to  be very selective about how I introduced color into the decor.  I really hope this works out the way I planned it.  Only time will tell… we’ve got to wait about 4 weeks before getting the rug delivered.  Now if only I could decide on which houseplants to get….

Why is it that, in order to be the stuff of legend, song lyrics need to be deep and poetic?  I mean, seriously, why not just get right to the point.  None of this reading between the lines bullshit; Just make it obvious what the song is about.
